It's 200 years since the birth of Charles Darwin, 150 years since he published "The Origin of Species" and 3 years since Richard Dawkins proposed "The God Delusion". Following this line of thinking, many people are now asking, in terms of belief, whether "Science has killed God?" But is an atheistic view of the world as inevitable or reasonable as is commonly supposed?
We are pleased to welcome Andrew Wilson - former Cambridge student, City Church member and author (Incomparable, Deluded by Dawkins) to speak on Sunday 26 April. Andrew will help us consider the persuasiveness of the opening words of Genesis: "In the beginning, GOD..."
How God created (e.g. young or old earth, via theistic evolution or not) is something that sincere Christians can (and do) discuss and debate. But it need not be something that we divide over. Nor should we be discourteous to those don't think exactly the same as we do. That God created, is what unites us. That God exists and made us is also what defines us; every one of us on planet earth.
We can be confident of and celebrate this truth. We are not chemical accidents, alone in the universe. We are known and loved by an Incomparably Wonderful God.
