:: HELLO STUDENTS!

As the Student Team here at City Church, we’re here to support you throughout your time studying; to get to know you as people and to invest in you; to inspire you to go further in your walk with God; to build you up; to help you get to know him better through his word and through his Spirit; to enable you to minister to others; to support you as you tell them all about who Jesus is, what he has accomplished on the cross and why they are important to him; to help you discover the plans he has for your life.

We’ve got a great student team. Richard and Claire are the team leaders. Claire graduated from Cambridge where she read History and Richard never left – he’s currently a researcher working on his PhD in Theology. If you need to contact us, our email is students@citychurchcambridge.org.uk

:: WHAT'S GOING ON IN 2010-11?

:: Sunday Mornings – time to meet lots of new people, to praise God and to learn from his word. If you want some others to sit with, students frequently cluster and sit together on the far right (not politically) of the seating!

:: Socials & Brunch – as well as the informal social every now-and-then, we have a regular meet up for brunch before the 11:30 service at church, in the cafe at Tescos (next door). Food is always a good way of building up friendships and welcoming anyone and everyone!

:: Sunday Evenings: City in the City – on a couple of Sundays per term students gather together at Michaelhouse (on Trinity Street in town) at 8pm for an evening of worship, praise, great teaching specifically focussed on living the Christian life as students.

:: Student Cell Groups – groups to support you throughout the term, to help you as you live out Jesus’ message to those around you, to learn more from God’s word and to focus on praising him in the midst of your studies. We’ll be meeting on Tuesday evenings, 6.30pm for some food, with cell beginning at 7.30pm in students’ rooms throughout the city centre.

:: Discipleship – we’re committed to investing in you and to helping you grow in Christ. There are great opportunities for discipleship – learning how to follow Jesus – at City Church, including the Alpha Course and Freedom in Christ.

:: ‘Home-from-home’ – hungry for some home cooking? Sick of Sainsbury’s basics? Tired of Tesco value? Maxed out at M&S? Then home-from-home is for you! We’ll try to hook you up with some people in the church who are eager to ‘adopt’ you and to feed you up at Sunday lunch.

:: DIRECTIONS

If you’re still in doubt about how to find us, send us an email and we’ll do our best to help you find your way!

From the City Centre (follow the river!)
Head for Jesus Green and look for the towpath that runs along the river. Go along the towpath in the opposite direction to town, with the river to your left. As you follow the river round, you should approach a (very) big industrial chimney on your right. When you see a large curvy foot bridge coming up in the distance on your left, and the big chimney on your right, take a small path up on your right (it’s quite steep), which will lead up to the back of Tesco’s. Go up here and when you can, turn left and join Cheddars Lane. Turn right and City church is the big blue warehouse building on your left.

Cycling from Downing College P’Lodge/Parker’s Piece
Come out of Downing gates and turn left past pizza hut. Take the first right down Park Terrace. Go straight over at the traffic lights and keep cycling straight. This involves going over a pedestrian only bit and joining a road coming from the left where there is a church called ‘Eden Baptist’ on your right. Keep going straight when you reach some traffic lights. Follow the path as it bends to the right (through a field) and join the path alongside the river, with the river to your left. Keep going for about 5/10 mins. When you see a large curvy foot bridge coming up in the distance on your left, and a tall industrial chimney on your right, take a small path up on your right (it’s quite steep), which will lead up to the back of Tesco’s. Go up here and when you can, turn left and join Cheddars Lane. Turn right and City church is the big blue warehouse building on your left.

Walking/Cycling from ARU
Start from outside the main entrance, opposite Tesco Express on East Road. Stay on the ARU side of the road. Head towards the Newmarket Road roundabout (passing Vue Cinema on your left). At the roundabout, turn right and head down Newmarket Road towards another ‘big’ Tesco. Walk through the car park to the opposite side (with the Tesco building on your left hand side). City church is the big blue warehouse building on your left. You should see some of the Welcome team standing outside the church site on Cheddars Lane.
