Why Philippians was written.
‘Because of your partnership’ – why Philippians was written. – Daniel Goodman Philippians is a letter written by Paul to the church in Philippi to thank them for their generous and continuing partnership.
The Philippian church was especially loved by Paul and he was enormously grateful that they had sent one of their own leaders, Epaphroditus, to come to him as a friend bringing sorely needed aid. The letter, to be carried back to them by a returning Epaphroditus, is a ‘thank you’ note brimming with personal news, inspirational encouragement, heartfelt appeals for unity and – not one to avoid difficult issues – a strong confrontation of poisonous heresy.
Casting a long shadow over it all was Paul’s imprisonment and the very real possibility of imminent execution. ●
